Wajir County government has denied recent reports that ranked it the most corrupt in the country stating that some disgruntled individuals are out to paint negative image.

The alleged sponsored reports emerged after Wajir governor H.E governor Mohammed Abdi made a mini-reshuffle in his government.

“It is always normal for few to be unhappy about such decisions, in fact there is Somali adage goes ‘Judgement or decisions do not make all happy..’ it reasonates with the changes that some few people are not happy with it” a county official told Nairobi Journal.

He added “recently a local survey ranked the governor as the best in terms of development record and delivery; some people we’re not happy and decided to sponsor biased research companies to tarnish him”

Of late, the County boss has been seen launching several projects in the county including tarmacking of roads, street lighting among and spreading peaceful messages.

In October this year, the county with support from NDMA, the Tarbaj sub County administrator Mr. Ugas Billow along with officers from the County Directorate of peace, chiefs and elders from Wajir County joined their colleagues from Mandera for a peace baraza at Balowle of Mandera West.

“Recently the county government provided a free eye Surgical Eye Camp at Giriftu Sub County Hospital among others, we have renovated several schools and health centres” he said.

Other notable achievements at the heart of the governor’s office is Ward Development Fund that has helped several wards to achieve development equally.
