Kericho-based Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested the man who posted on Twitter statement that bordered on incitement if some Kenyans fail to support Deputy President William Ruto quest for top seat in 2022.
Dennis Kiptoo Mutai indicated it was either Ruto or the region burns again like it happened in 2007/08. After the post raised concerns he went into hiding.
He was this afternoon fished out of his hiding in Kericho and is expected to be arraigned in Court to answer charges of ethnic contempt contravening provisions of the National Cohesion and Integration Act 2008.
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) announcing his arrested stated he was on run since January 9, 2019 when police started looking for him.
“NCIC continues to condemn increasing level of ethnic and political polarisartion, intolerance and hooliganism during this phase of heightened 2022 succession politics”.
The commission added; “The commission together with other security agencies will not relent in ensuring that hatemongers face the law. We are calling on all Kenyans to embrace tolerance, restraint and respect diversity”.
Yesterday Mutai posted on his Facebook page saying; “This latter has references to latest media and public outburst on comments I allegedly made on Twitter. My comments were quoted out of context and in bad Faith by Negative attitude bloggers and Media”.
“My comments meant the ferocity and strength that PNU worn the election in 2007_08.
That I predict Dr William Ruto is going to win election of 2022 Just the way Mwai kibaki worn. It will be surprising”.
