Two individuals linked to the management of Taal Lounge in Parklands have been formally charged at the Kibera Law Courts with assault causing actual bodily harm and threatening to kill an Indian national.
Rahiel Daud and Hikesh Motwani, also known as Vicky, both pleaded not guilty to the charges. They have been remanded in custody at Parklands Police Station and are scheduled to appear for a bond and bail hearing on 30 March 2026.
According to the DCI, Detectives from Parklands Police Station responded promptly following a formal complaint. The incident occurred in the early hours of 24 March 2026 at approximately 3:00 a.m.
According to court documents, the complainant; an Indian national visiting Kenya was at Taal Lounge with a companion when a dispute arose over their bill after they had consumed drinks.
The pair sought clarification from management, which led to the intervention of the lounge owner, Hikesh Motwani.
It is alleged that Motwani assaulted the complainant’s companion during the confrontation. When the complainant attempted to intervene, Rahiel Daud joined the altercation, allegedly punching the complainant and striking him on the head with an object.
The assault resulted in injuries and significant bleeding. Daud is further accused of issuing death threats, causing the complainant to fear for his life.
The complainant was immediately transported to M.P. Shah Hospital for medical treatment. A P3 medical examination form was issued and completed, and statements were obtained from both the complainant and independent witnesses.
The suspects were subsequently apprehended and arraigned before the Kibera Law Courts.
