The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has struck out a petition by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna challenging his removal as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

In a ruling delivered this afternoon, the tribunal held that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter, citing Sifuna’s failure to first exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

The bench, led by Acting Chairperson Gad Gathu, directed both parties to resolve the dispute through ODM’s internal alternative dispute resolution process in good faith.

However, the tribunal ordered that Sifuna’s removal which stemmed from a February 11, 2026 National Executive Committee resolution passed in Mombasa, should not be formalized or published in the Kenya Gazette pending the outcome of the internal process.

This means Sifuna remains ODM Secretary General for now.
Sifuna had argued that the NEC’s decision was unconstitutional, lacked due process and violated the party’s constitution.

The tribunal’s earlier conservatory orders had temporarily blocked his ouster. The verdict marks the latest twist in the ongoing internal wrangles within ODM.
Neither Sifuna nor ODM party officials had issued immediate reactions as of press time.
