A video has emerged showing security guards throwing out an elderly woman from the compound of Gatamaiyu Secondary School.
In the video, the woman is seen crying in pain as she inquires about the circumstances under which her son died in the school.
Her tears do not move the security guards who were recorded bundling her ount of the gate, then throw her down then locks then leaves her on the ground.
The woman has been identified as Christine Nyangweso, it is reported that her son died at Gatamaiyu secondary school in January under unclear circumstances, thus she had gone to the school to seek answers.
The boy, identified as Jimmy Anaro had complained of chest pains but was denied permission to seek medical attention.
Afterwards, it is said that he collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital by a pastor serving at the school, but he later died while receiving treatment.
According to a fellow students who assisted Jimmy, he had complained of chest pains since early morning.
“He came to me and said his chest was hurting badly. We went to the teachers, but they refused to let him go to hospital,” the student claimed. “By the time help came, he was already very weak,” the student said.
In an interview, the boy’s nother said she received an urgent call from the school principal but was shocked when she arrived.
“I was told he complained of some pains on but that is shocking because my son had never had any problem before,” she said
“The teacher who called me said Jimmy had been taken to Kagwe hospital, but I met some boda-boda riders who told me he was taken there briefly then he was transferred to another dispensary before he died,” the mother added.
More shocking, she said, is that she was told not to go to the hospital alone, a directive which made her worried as she was on the way.
The mother aid that it was unfortunate to lose a child under unclear circumstances yet his life would have been saved on time.
Lari Deputy police boss Eric Mugaka confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
