Kenyans were shocked after three police officers were reported dead following a tragic accident on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in Kutui County.
The accident involving a police Landcruiser occurred around 2pm in the afternoon while the officers were heading back to the station.
According to witnesses, the officers from Nguutani police station had gone to the Kanyoyo area to arrest a suspect but they did not find him forcing him to drive back to the station.
It is stated that on reaching Mwatungo area, the vehicle developed mechanical problems after the front wheel locked.
For this reason, the vehicle veered off the road to the right and rolled several times.
As a result two police officers died on the spot while the third one died while undergoing treatment at Kithyoko level three hospital.
Two civilians who were in the same GK motor vehicle sustained injuries and are recovering at the same facility.
The details of the suspect whom the officers had gone to arrest remain unclear even as families of the three officers who perished were being traced to be informed about the unfortunate incident.
