In a bizarre and tragic turn of events, police in Kisii County are investigating an attempted livestock theft that has left the cow dead after the cow got stuck in between the narrow metal opening after thieves attempted to force the animal through it.
The incident occurred on Thursday night at the Kisii Agricultural Training Centre (ATC), a dairy Farm, located in Kionganyo village, where unidentified suspects targeted a cow in what appeared to be a carefully planned heist.
According to police reports, the thieves attempted to force the animal through a narrow metal opening in the perimeter fence, likely intending to extract it from the property undetected.
The scheme quickly unraveled when the cow became firmly wedged between the bars, unable to move forward or backward.
Tragically, the animal succumbed to its ordeal and died at the scene, transforming an attempted theft into an unintended fatality.
County askaris promptly alerted authorities, and the matter was formally reported at Kisii Police Station.
Officers visited the scene, documented the evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses as investigations continue to identify and apprehend those responsible.
