The Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki has called for unity and collective collaboration amongst the artists to develop a trust fund where resources shall be channeled into so as to help their children in cases of tragedies.

Speaking during the burial of the Gospel singer Betty Bayo, DP Kindiki boldly urged fellow artist’s friends who are in the creative arts economy to come together and have a leadership where the resources saved in the trust fund account shall be managed and be able to help the affected.

“I know we have many powerful and talented artists. I urge them to come together and let us establish a big foundation of trust to provide resources to take care of the children of artists so that we do not have them die in poverty,” said the DP

Adding that, “I hope there is some leadership from the artists so that we can join hands to help one another,”

Betty succumbed to blood cancer, acute acute Leukemia at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

“Betty through her songs has been a blessing to many. I can attest that I knew her through singing with the most hit song being the eleventh hour,” Kindiki said.

He noted that he understands the challenges that people who serve God in all capacities go through citing hails from a Christian family, where his father of 90 years served God as an ordained reverend of the Methodist church for 55 years.

“Sometimes they go through hardships and when they leave the world their children remain suffering,” he said.

At the same time, he pledged to Sh5 million to the trust fund for Betty’s children as a way of collaborating with other well-wishers.

The DP also said that President Ruto had promised the same amount.

The Singer is survived by two Children, Sky Victor and Danny Victor and a husband Hiram Gitau.

Victor Kanyari, the ex-husband, was also in the send-off ceremony in Mugumo within Kiambu County.
