For several days now, residents of Kitengela have been living in fear after a stray lion was seen in the neighbourhood.

According to the residents, the animals have been spotted on several locations roaming mostly during the night in a move that has forced the locals to arrive home early.

For this reason, a report was made to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) so as to find a way of capturing the animal.

And in response, the rangers arrived at the neihgbour with a young goat to be sued to lure the lioness to the trap as it is usually the norm when trapping the stray animals.

But what has shocked the residents is that the wild animal has refused to eat the goat that was tied to a tree so as to attract the stray animal.

“The goat has been here for two days now and the lion has not touched it as we expected, we don’t know why,” Andrew Muiya, a resident said

Another resident observed that it could be because the goat is young and skinny thus the lion has not been attracted.

But according to an animal expert, it could be because the rangers handled the animal with bare hands thus leaving their scent on the goat.

“Wild animals are very clever and can sense the danger, in fact some of them have very strong intuition than human beings,” Ken Muga, the animal expert said

“In this case, the lion could have picked scent of human beings on the goat and discovered that it is a trap, the goat should be released to continue living,”
