Businessman Accused of Paying Hitmen to Kill Girlfriend Says He is Innocent

A businessman in Shauri Moyo was arrested and arraigned over claims of planning to kill his girlfriend.

The accused Anthony Thayu was said that he conspired with Anthony Musyoka  to Kill Faith John (complainant) on diverse dates between 4 February 2024.

He is also facing an offence of inciting Anthony (whistle blower) to kill the complainant.

It is reportedly said that the complainant was approached by Anthony, who is now a state witness.

Reportedly, the lady was informed that Boniface had hired him at a cost of Sh 10,000 to look for a hitmen who would eliminate the complainant who is said to be his girlfriend.

The complaint who works as a pharmacist within Kiambiu was shocked by the revelations, and she decided to call  her cousin, who went to listen to what Anthony was saying.

It is alleged that Anthony had promised to pay the hitmen Sh20,000 as a down-payment and balance of similar amounts afterwards.

Anthony is said to have told the accused that he will give him the response after two days. Instead, he decided to approach the complainant and told her about the plan.

The trio decided to report the matter to the Kiambiu police post and were directed to report the matter to DCI in Shauri Moyo.

On February 8, the day of his arrest, the accused had allegedly instructed Anthony to go collect Sh 30,000 unawares that detectives were already in the know.

In court, the accused said he was innocent.l but the court noted that there has been a rising cases of femicide in the recent past in the country and that the victim could end have lost her life if the accused had succeeded in getting the hitmen.

The accused shall be remanded in custody pending a pre-bail report, which is to be tabled in court on February 18, 2025.
