A section of Nairobi MCAs have accused Governor Johnson Sakaja od attempting to derail investigations into falling revenue collection and efficiency of the system used by the County.
For about three months now a special committee that was formed by the Assembly has been probing how the revenue systems works, its administrators and the exact amount the County collects.
The 13-member-committee was formed by the assembly after it emerged that the revenue collected since 2021 had been nose diving even with several promises by the County boss that all is well.
Nonetheless, on January 30th after the sitting, Committee chairman Peter Imwatok made outrageous allegations accusing Sakaja of meddling with the investigations.
“I am aware of mobilization by the county executive to derail the findings of this committee,” the Makongeni MCA told the press.
He threatened to name those who are meddling with the committee and derailing its work yet it was given only 90 days to table comprehensive report.
“No one knows where the servers of the revenue systems are located. No one can authenticate who the chief administrator of the system is and no one can tell how much they collect weekly or monthly,” Imwatok claimed.
He added that, “we created this committee to establish how revenue generated by the county is lost. There is nobody who can authenticate,”
