Candidates who sat for KCSE last year will get their results on a new website instead of the normal SMS that was used before.

Our sources say the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of ICT are putting up new measures in a shift from the past.

Reportedly, the website will be used by the candidates to access the results instead of the previous use of short code messages (SMS) which attracted different charges.

This will be a new shift from the system used during the release of past KCSE and KCPE results since 2016 which was experiencing some challenges.

The SMS system failed last month during the release of 2023 KCPE examination results causing an uproar with the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu blaming the system and not the results.

Machogu defended KNEC, stating that the SMS service provider contracted was to blame for the mess.

‘‘Despite Kenya National Examination Council and other agencies putting all measures in place to administer the examination, someone who was contracted to deliver the results messed the whole thing,’’ Machogu stated.

Last year 903,260 KCSE candidates sat for the examination, recently CS Machogu said the results will be released in the second week of January 2024.
