A data analyst in Nairobi is counting losses after being allegedly drugged and his stuff stolen in a suspected drugging case.
The accused who is a man has been charged for stupefying to commit an offence contrary to the law.
The suspect is said to have robbed Johnson Onyango Sh8000 in cash, five mobile phones, and a pair of shoes worth Sh7000, among other items valued at Sh145,000 on December 8, 2023, after they met in a club.
It is stated that the complaint was having a drink at the bar when a “woman” approached him and asked him to dance.
Later on, they left to his house but when they got home, the accused, who had been pretending to be a woman.
In the complainant’s house, it is stated that the accused served the Onyango some drinks and after some time he lost his senses.
Reportedly, he woke up the following day feeling dizzy and exhausted and realised the accused and his items were missing forcing him to report that matter to police.
The suspect was tracked and arrested only to be discovered that he was a man.
The accused denied the charges in court and was released on Sh200,000 bail with no option for cash bail.
The case will come up for mention on January 9, before the trial begins on July 9, 2024.
