Some brokers who have been operating along the corridors of City Hall Annex soliciting bribes from residents seeking some services have reason to worry now.
The County has now launched a customer service center where all the services at the building will be channeled through.
This was revealed during the opening of the building that has been undergoing a face lift for several months now.
The County embarked on the renovations of the 40 year old tower following complaints by the residents.
Until last year residents were forced to use stairs all the way to 15th floor while seeking for some service due to frequent elevator breakdowns at the City Hall Annex.
The revamped customer service center at the Annex building is set to end corruption along the corridors.
“We were able to get an estimate from our building department for each of the floors and we have done six floors at the cost of Sh100 Million, in terms of construction works and renovations,” County Chief Officer for Public Participation, Lydia Mathia explained.
The centre has a queuing system and access control all the way from basement to channel people to the service center.
Mathia explained that this will bring the culture shift where people were checking in to look for services without a central point of collection of databases or what they are looking for.
The Chief Officer explained, “Before they go to multiple floors creating heavy load on our left which kept it breaking down,”
She said all the services will shift to the Mezzanine floor where all the sectors will work from.
“There was a lot of soliciting and corruption that was witnessed, strangers coming in and pulling out our clients promising to help them,” the Chief Officer said.
“With this customer service center and control center you cannot get in if we don’t know who you are, services will be offered on first come first serve basis, no need to bribing,”
Governor Sakaja on his part said the renovations and centre was aimed at improving services to the city residents.
