Police say they have in their custody a man spotted with a pistol tucked in his trouser but operating as a garbage collector in of the city estate.
The photo was shared by undercover cops who use Facebook to fight criminals.
They have identified him as Alex Maina and was arrested alongside an alleged accomplice. In addition, knives were recovered from him.
The photo circulated last night on social media triggered a scare and call for identification and subsequent arrest of the suspected thug. On arresting him the cops refuted claims he was an undercover police officer.
They posted; “ “Both of them are garbage collectors at #Mukuru_Pipeline. Too lucky to have been arrested otherwise, saa mngekuwa kwa headlines: this is their habit, terrorising innocent people from the same area with a toy pistol,..wacha waende wakae ndani, but am sure watatoka very soon”.
