The circumstances under which a 45-year-old woman was shot five times at Naiberi area in Nandi County has shocked the area residents.

Doris Murei was allegedly shot dead by her boyfriend Nathan Kirwa on Sunday, 30, 2026 after allegedly finding her drinking with stranger.

Afterwards Kirwa is said to have fled from the scene only to be arrested hour later. Doris and Kirwa were both married to different partners but were allegedly in an intimate affair.

It is alleged that on the fateful evening Kirwa found Doris having good times with another man sparking heated words flew between them.

Then Kirwa pulled his firearm and put five rounds into her. Four hit her in the back, and one in the head. She dropped dead on the spot. Seven spent 9-millimetre cartridges were later recovered.

He left behind a rifle holster and his Toyota Corolla 110, registration KAR 371 U, and ran with friends. The man she had been drinking with that evening vanished just as fast into the night the moment the first shots cracked.

Police set an ambush the same night along the Kapsaret–Maili Tisa bypass in the Kaptinga area and got Kirwa.

At the time, he still had a Jericho pistol with five rounds loaded and an injury on his left forefinger that needed treatment before they locked him up at Naiberi Station. Doris’s body was taken straight to Eldoret Hospital mortuary.

Her husband, Nelson Kama, received the call, went to identify her, and later said the children were completely broken by the sudden loss of their mother.

Police sources speaking off the record said exactly that: he found her partying with another man and opened fire after a brief confrontation.
