Kenyans were shocked after a stranger charged at President Ruto while addressing the locals in Wajir on February 12, 2026.

The man has been identified as Ahmed Muhumed who is an MCA aspirant of Wajir East.

President Ruto was concluding his speech when Muhumed, emerged behind him, (from the podium) and sprinted towards the stage in an attempt to reach out to the president.

As a result, he did not make it as the security officers swiftly whisked him away in a move that saw the president halt his speech to intervene “Polepole, pole” (slowly, slowly).

Ruto continued his speech without further disruption, telling the crowd, “Tunawapenda sana. Tunataka kushirikiana na nyinyi na tutarudi hapa vile nimewaeleza. Wajir hoyee”

In an interview with the citizen Tv,  Muhumed stated that “I Just Wanted to Speak to the President. I had no ill intentions. I simply wanted a chance to introduce myself and discuss my 2027 political ambitions because I am contesting for the MCA seat in our area.”)

He added that he had waited patiently because the President arrived late (past midday) and hoped to approach him once the speeches ended.

Muhumed said his shirt tore and he fell on the carpet during the scuffle but expressed no regret. He remained hopeful of a future meeting with the President.

The National Police Service confirmed that the President’s safety, along with that of other dignitaries and the public, was never in danger.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja immediately ordered a three-day inquiry into the breach to identify any procedural gaps and implement remedial measures.
