The Kenyan government has appealed to the foreigners to respect Kenyans and adhere to the country’s laws.
This comes after a Chinese manager was captured assaulting a Kenyan employee at a factory in Eldoret.
However, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has assured Kenyans that action will be taken to avoid such cases in the future adding that the incident reignited Kenya’s national conduct of foreign nationals working in Kenya.
In a statement on Monday, Director of Press Service at the Office of Prime CS, Jacob Ng’etich said this aligns with Musalia’s message to both Kenyans and foreigners to always respect the laws, culture, of your host country.
Not long ago, Mudavadi urged Kenyans in foreign countries to abide by their laws, respect their people and understand their culture.
Similarly, he said Kenya expects the same courtesy from all foreign nationals living and working within our borders adding that the latest incident reflects the importance of that principle.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi described the incident as disappointing and reaffirming its expectation that all its Citizens in Kenya follow all the laws and norms.
“We are extremely disappointed to see such an incident occur. As we are all informed, the company’s management has immediately terminated the Chinese worker’s contract and and will consider further disciplinary action,” the Embassy stated
