A police officer in Eldoret is yet to know his verdict on bail and bond terms after a high court judge directed the matter to be mentioned on November 27 pending a ruling.
The officer identified as David Omondi is said to have shot Dolphine Mwangi, 22, a student at Kitale National Polytechnic on October 21, 2025 at Naree Trading Center in Kiminini Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County.
Reportedly, the accused person arrived at the trading center aboard a motorcycle. He was armed with a pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
The accused according to some of the witnesses met a group of students and he questioned them why they were there at that particular hour.
When they failed to respond, Omondi is said to have opened fire, and shot in the air three times and unfortunately, one of the bullets hit Mwangi in the head.
She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Following his arrest and probe, he was presented before Eldoret high court Justice Reuben Nyakundi, to answer to the charge of murder. He has since denied the offense .
