Journalism is a calling, they say. This is exactly what Ktn cameraman Nicholas Kibet Biwott proved at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on October 16,2025.
This was when the whole country was glued to their screens waiting for the arrival of the remains of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga from India.
In such moments reporters and videographers look for best angles to capture and offbeats to spice up the live coverage.
It was at this point that Biwott, noticed President Ruto driving towards the airport, not in a convoy and tight security as usual but in one vehicle with about five four VIP security men on both sides.
Another videographer noticed Biwott in action and recorded him and shared the clip that later went viral earning him both praise and respect.
Some of his colleagues say the videographer is passionate and loves his job and never leaves his tools of trade unless when not on duty; he is also said to be a technician who fixes his cameras and tripods not only his but those of his colleagues.
“He is a good guy and loves his job, I have been with him on various assignments and his creativity ensures that we get the best shots,” one of the colleagues praised him
“Sometimes when we are doing feature stories he is the last person to leave the site until he gets exclusive angles,” he added
Owing to this, Biwott is said to on several occasions given a chance to cover some International assignments including in the United States of America and Germany among other countries.
“Even during tricky assignments, Biwott carries his equipment’s without any help, so as not to miss anything worth covering, he is a good, professional guy…he is ripe for BBC or even CNN,” the colleague added
Some hailed his efforts while teasing him that he forgot to ‘press record ‘ button on his camera claiming that they have not seen the video he was recording.
Such claims have made Biwott open up, promising to upload the footage to prove them wrong. ” With my experience of many years in videography, I could not fail to record,” Biwott responded
