There was grief at Nzoia police station in Bongoman police station after it was reported that a police dog had died.

It is reported that the trained canine was attacked by bees within the station on July 15, 2025.

According to a police report, a dog handler, Boniface Cheruiyot of Nzoia police station reported that swamp bees had invaded the station around 4pm.

The officer said the angry bees attacked everyone and forced them to scamper for safety.

Unfortunately, the dog identified as Kerio was locked in the kernel and was unable to escape as the bees stung him leaving the poor canine unconscious.

“The OCS called in experts from Nzoia company to rescurcicate the dog in vain,” the police report reads in part

The-7-year-old dog was tasked with tracking and patrolling, the police statement reads, adding that the regional dog master had been informed about the unfortunate incident.
