Hundreds of taxi drivers operating under foreign taxi Apps have issued 30 days notice before shifting to already active local platform dubbed MyRide Pap.

The move comes after several attempts to bring together other companies including Uber, Bolt and Little cab so as to bridge existing gab flopped.

“We invited many digital App Operators including the international platforms to come on the table so that we can discuss this business but only MyRide Pap Limited came for engagement, we therefore decided to sign a work agreement the drivers/Car Owners and MYRIDE PAP LIMITED who agreed to our call” said Digital Taxi Forum Secretary General Wycliffe Alutalala.

The taxi drivers and owners from major towns in Kenya under E-hailing transport Kenya announced the move saying that for six years the taxi business has operated without any government regulations and proper legal guidelines on how the stakeholders in the business should operate.

Under MyRide, the new partners say pricing models shall be discussed and agreed on with drivers/car owners and form a committee to address all issues affecting the industry.

Following the signing of the agreement, the drivers and car owners form Mombasa, Nakuru, Nyeri, and Kisumu have vowed to delete defiant Apps by the end of 30 days notice and join MyRide App citing proximity whenever an issue arises unlike foreign companies.

“All drivers and car owners operating on these defiant Applications are advised to download MYRIDE app and be ready for the mass migration to MYRIDE once it is announced”, the Secretary General added.

MyRide Chief Executive officer Patrick Nderitu says the new application will not only be of benefit to the drivers but also community at large.

“Our approach does not leave anyone out because once the driver refers anyone to join MyRide, he/she will be earning five percent from any completed trip” he explains.

Similarly, the customers who use the MyRide App will get their cut whenever they invite someone else to join. He says their percentage will be wired via e-wallet then from the client will transfer the amount to their mobile phones.

“The drivers will not only depend on commissions but also referral, thus one will still be earning even when at home depending on the number of people he/she will have invited and uses MyRide frequently”
