Olick takes over Star’s political desk in new changes

The Star Newspaper has promoted Felix Olick to head its political desk.

Olick, who left The Standard for the Lion Place in 2016 is the biggest beneficially of Paul Ilado changes having risen from a position of a deputy political editor.

Ilado will also bag on Francis Mureithi (news editor), Tom Jalio who will head features, Grace Kerongo (Head Sasa), Mercy Gakii (Business Deputy Editor) and Joseph Olweny to drive the paper.

Seasoned court report Jillo Kadida will deputise Mureithi and will also handle courts while Francis Opeda will be taking up Star’s business bit.

In the lineup, Olweny will be operating as an associate editor while Oliver Mathenge will remain to head digital platform as an editor.

Victoria Graham will be Star’s revise editor while the chief sub desk will be taken up by Josephine Muyaya.  Sports editor is Chris Mbaisi.

The paper is said to be making 8000 copies every day and it will be Illado’s headache to ensure that the numbers grow or put brakes on the dwindling sales.

Ilado took up the hot seat of content editor which was headed by David Makali. He exited the Westlands based paper this month.

At the same time, there are rumours that Illado has started hunting for his dream team. Among the places he wants to raid is The Standard, with rumors that he has already approached a senior writer and a correspondent in a bid to have him join his team.
