Self-proclaimed and controversial prophet Victor Kanyari has claimed that he was planning to invite the Kikuyu Benga artiste John De’Mathew to perform during his wedding.
Kanyari shared the tribute minutes after it was confirmed that De’Mathew had succumbed following tragic accident on Sunday evening around Blue Post Hotel along Thika road.
He posted “Rest in Peace Legend John De’mathew, you are among the first artist I knew growing Up. Your Songs “Nitugakena” and “Njata Yakwa” “Nduku” we my Favorite. If I was to do a wedding you were the first artist I could have booked to perform.
“May your Soul rest in Peace and My God comfort your family through this tough times. You will always be remembered RIP”, added Kanyari.
Kanyari was in the limelight after being exposed three years ago for performing fake miracles using potassium permanganate, which turns purple when dissolved in water.
He used this chemical reaction ruse to convince followers that his prayers washed away mysterious diseases by asking them to step into water and witness the disease being ‘washed away’ and change the colour of water in the process.
Kanyari was then asking those who wished to be prayed for to panda mbegu with Sh310 through mobile phone money transfer.
That saga resulted in his gospel singer wife Betty Bayo divorcing him and they had two children.
