Hezekiah Kariuki, the Chief Executive Officer of Comfort Homes has explained why he extended a helping hand to Laare woman identified as Purity Kendi whose private videos were leaked online.
In an interview with this publication, Kariuki said the gesture was meant to restore her dignity after being subjected to online bullying.
“Society has always been quick to judge, especially women. We decided to reach out to her so as to restore her dignity and bring more confidence to her. I also believe in second chances,” Kariuki explained
He added that Kendi was first taken for counselling after restoring her confidence.
“It is true that we approached her on Tuesday, but she was first taken through counselling because what she has gone through a lot,” said Kariuki
“It is unfortunate that her private stuff leaked online, but people do dirty stuff out there, but they don’t go online,” he added, appealing to the public to give the woman a break.
“We are appealing to the public to give her a break for as a company we are going to help her move to Nairobi and get her a plot to settle,”
Kariuki said after having a conversation with Kendi, she revealed that she is a mother of four and taking care of the other three children left behind by a relative.
“My appeal is to the public to use social media to do positive stuff, not to look for popularity using such stuff,” Kariuki added
When Kendi’s private videos were leaked online and went viral, many people were shocked at how an innocent mother would resort to keeping such clips on her mobile phone.
This was followed by contradicting information before Kendi came out to reveal what had transpired and how the videos went public.
Then Kendi claimed that she was a mother of four and someone had tricked her to record the videos with a promise that she would be paid.
She claimed that this, however, turned into blackmail as the person in question demanded money from her, then released the videos after she allegedly failed to part with cash.
