Kenyan advocate Professor Makau Mutua has claimed that Eliud Kipchoge is not Greatest of All the Time (GOAT) and that his latest INEOS record is counterfeit.
Mutua who is based in the US poured out his heart through an opinion piece published today in local daily even though Kicphoge clocked 1 hour 59 minutes 40 seconds in race against time dubbed ‘No Human is Limited.
The intrepid professor argued that the conditions favoured him to complete the INEOS challenge within the said duration and that Kipchoge had pace setters who were friendly to him unlike in the real contest where you are often surrounded by rivals.
He asked Kenyans to ignore the claims that human beings can do anything in this world pointing out that the argument is unfounded and senseless.
“He ran against himself without having to be worried — or psyched out — by real competitors. Instead, he was escorted by friendly ‘sycophants’ brought there to help him break the two-hour barrier” he penned
Adding that “It’s like a boxer who knocks out a hapless sparring partner. Or a dictator running against himself. So, in a sense Mr Kipchoge’s ‘record’ is fake. The first true under-two-hour marathon hasn’t been run yet,”
